Webinar - Employee Health and Wellness Programs: The Policy Issues for Massachusetts
August 13th, 2008 10:30am – 12:00pm
As health care costs continue to rise, leaders in both the public and private sectors are taking a new look at health promotion and wellness programs as strategies to improve health and reduce the demand for costly health care services.
In recent years, some of the most far-reaching health promotion strategies have been launched by employers. An increasing body of research suggests that well-designed, employer-sponsored programs can reduce health risks among employees and reduce yearly health care benefits inflation.
Our August 13 webinar, hosted by NEHI, The Boston Foundation and the Massachusetts Department of Public Health, will feature:
• An overview of the latest research findings on the effectiveness of employer-sponsored health promotion and wellness programs;
• A presentation on the Massachusetts Department of Public Health’s Worksite Wellness Initiative, which is currently sponsoring pilot projects at 11 worksites throughout the state; and
• A discussion of the key policy issues pertaining to wider adoption of health promotion and wellness programs among Massachusetts employers.
This presentation is sponsored by the Healthy People/Healthy Economy Initiative, a project of The Boston Foundation and the New England Healthcare Institute
