As a nation, we stand at a critical crossroad in health care reform.... Baby boomers are aging, resulting in an increase in the number of prescriptions that are dispensed to this growing population. With changes in technology and continuing advances in medicine, medication therapies are becoming increasingly more complex. Despite these advances, $290 billion is added to the cost of health care each year, according to a recent report from the New England Healthcare Institute, because people are not taking medications correctly.
