New Study Shows Tele-ICUs Save Lives, Decrease Patient Time in ICU

A study released Dec. 1 by the New England Healthcare Institute (NEHI) and the Massachusetts Technology Collaborative finds that patient mortality decreases significantly - as much as 36 percent - when hospitals adopt tele-ICU technology. Also, patients' length of stay in the ICU decreases by almost two days - or 30 percent.
"Now that tele-ICUs have a strong reputation based on clear evidence, we must seize the chance to speed the adoption of this valuable technology in hospitals across the country," the study's authors state.
