CER Dissemination: PCORI Could Help Raise The Bar For Clinical Guidelines

The Patient Centered Outcomes Research Institute could use its authority to ensure that medical professional societies translate comparative effectiveness research into high quality evidence-based practice guidelines, the chair of PCORI's communications committee said.

"PCORI has the opportunity to increase the sense of responsibility professional societies have to promulgate evidence-based practice and raise the standards by which clinicians incorporate evidence-based standards," Sharon Levine, chair of PCORI's Communications, Outreach and Education Committee, observed during a May 25 roundtable discussion on CER dissemination in Washington, D.C.
