Drug Adherence Not So Simple

Want a solution to rising healthcare costs? Encourage employees to take drugs. Not illicit ones, of course, but medications prescribed to them by doctors... Employers might also start introducing value-based insurance designs, which eliminate the cost of prescriptions altogether but charge more for procedures deemed overused such as MRIs or emergency-room visits. Valerie Fleishman, executive director of NEHI, says an increasing number of large employers are looking into that option.
