Gathering at the State House Wednesday, Massachusetts health care advocates and business leaders urged lawmakers to eliminate barriers to work-based employee wellness programs and to provide incentives for healthy behavior that can cut health care costs...

Health care advocates said preventable illnesses are draining billions of dollars in productivity from the state economy. They pointed to companies such as AstraZeneca, Blue Cross and Blue Shield, Raytheon and Fidelity, crediting them for work-based wellness programs that have increased worker productivity and morale, as well as reducing their annual health care inflation costs...
