New England Healthcare Institute's Valerie Fleishman named to Boston Business Journal's "40 Under 40" List
October 3, 2008
CAMBRIDGE, MA -- Valerie Fleishman, Executive Director of the New England Healthcare Institute (NEHI), has been named to the Boston Business Journal’s distinguished “40 Under 40” list and was honored last evening at an awards ceremony at the Copley Marriott Hotel. The list recognizes outstanding professionals under the age of 40 whose business successes and community contributions have established them as leaders to be watched in their fields.
Fleishman joined NEHI, a nonprofit health policy research organization with 75 members dedicated to transforming the health care system, at the organization’s inception in 2002. Since NEHI’s official launch in 2003, she has played a leading role in all aspects of the organization, from research to operations. Under Fleishman’s expanding leadership as Vice President, COO, CFO and now Executive Director, NEHI has published more than 20 influential health policy research reports, grown from three to fifteen full-time employees and dramatically expanded its membership to represent the broadest spectrum of health care interests, from payers, providers and patients to biotechnology and pharmaceutical companies.
Additionally, Fleishman has played an instrumental role in aligning NEHI with key organizations such as the Massachusetts Technology Collaborative, The Boston Foundation, the Massachusetts Hospital Association and the Life Sciences Collaborative on projects aimed at reducing medication errors, increasing the adoption of disease prevention and wellness programs and reinforcing the critical link between New England’s health care community and the region’s economy.
"Valerie Fleishman has demonstrated outstanding leadership in developing NEHI, a unique organization that pulls together the disparate elements of the health care system," said said David Fleming, Group Senior Vice President of Genzyme Corporation, a founding member of NEHI. "As NEHI celebrates its first five years and heads into its next, the collaborative spirit Valerie fosters among those sectors with a stake in health care has never been more critical to our success in reaching consensus and solving problems."
