NEHI Vice President of Policy Research Tom Hubbard will lead a discussion with two national experts from NEHI member organizations:
- Matthew Day, Senior Vice President, Network Payment Innovation & Contract Management at Blue Cross Blue Shield of Massachusetts
- Troy Smith, Vice President, Healthcare Strategy & Payment Transformation at Blue Cross Blue Shield of North Carolina.
The discussion will recap newly released findings on quality improvement and cost savings achieved under the Alternative Quality Contract (AQC). First launched in 2009 by BCBSMA, the AQC is one of the first alternative payment models sponsored by a commercial health plan. Meanwhile, North Carolina has been called one of the leading frontiers for healthcare transformation in the country; we will discuss BCBSNC's bold strategy to shift provider payments to risk-shared models.
