In the best interest of our honorees, staff, and guests, we have decided to move our Innovators in Health Awards to a virtual platform.
NEHI’s Innovators in Health Awards recognizes individuals who have made lasting contributions in health and health care and inspired the community with their vision and achievements. Since the Innovator in Health award was launched, we have honored over 50 pioneering individuals from all sectors of health care.
The annual NEHI Innovators in Health Awards will take place on October 6, 2020.
We hope you will join us to induct a new 2020 class of awardees, and to honor the transformative impact all have had on the various sectors of health and health care.
Rebekah Gee, MD, CEO of Health Care Services at LSU Health.
Dr. Gee will be honored for her instrumental work in overseeing the state's Medicaid expansion roll-out that reduced Louisiana's uninsured population by nearly half. In addition, her innovative subscription payment model expanded access to life-saving hepatitis C treatments and has been implemented in several other states.
John Maraganore, PhD, CEO at Alnylam Pharmaceuticals.
Dr. Maraganore will be honored for his leadership in developing the first RNAi therapies. Focusing on the needs of patients who have limited or no treatment options (e.g. hemophilia, cardiac-metabolic disorders, hepatic infectious diseases), Alnylam is developing a new class of medicines based on the translation of RNA interference. He has also done much to promote payment models that balance patient access and sustainable health care spending.
The inaugural Henri A. Termeer Memorial Innovator in Health Award will be bestowed upon John Maraganore.
Myechia Minter-Jordan, MD, President and CEO for DentaQuest Partnership for Oral Health Advancement and Catalyst Institute.
Dr. Minter-Jordan will be honored for her dedicated work to combat the opioid epidemic. She will also be recognized for her leadership in increasing access to care for vulnerable communities through development of the Harvard Primary Care Center Initiative which partners academic hospitals and community health centers to transform them into patient centered medical homes.
