Hospitals can Work Together to Detect - And Deter - The Drivers of Poor Health

NEHI's Susan Dentzer and Lahey's Joanne Conroy call on Boston-Area Hospitals to work together to help address health disparities

Under the Afforadable Care Act, hospitals are requried to do community health needs assessment (CHNAs) every three years to identify the health needs of a community and work to contribute to meeting those needs.

Curently, hospitals are doing these assessments separately and independently, but joining resources could have a bigger impact on community health.

NEHI teamed up with Lahey to persuade all hospitals in the greater Boston area to partner with state and local government, community health centers, regional planning agencies, community development corporations and others on CHNAs and to help create a joint community health improvement plan to truly drive change in the region.
